Overseas Medical Assistance Team launches Inaugural Golf Classic

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Overseas Medical Assistance Team (OMAT) announces its Inaugural Golf Classic scheduled for Monday, Sept. 26 at the Hamlet Windwatch Golf & Country Club, located at 1715 Vanderbilt Parkway in Hauppauge, New York. “We invite golfers to attend this wonderful event while supporting a worthwhile cause,” said Stephen S. Carryl, MD, OMAT president & founder.

The golf classic will begin at 6:30 a.m. with registration and a sumptuous buffet breakfast. Following that, the 7:30 a.m. shotgun start will open the course for several hours of enjoyable golfing. The complete individual golf package is set at $225 per player and $900 per foursome. The classic will culminate with an awards luncheon at noon. Non-golfers and OMAT supporters are welcome to attend the luncheon at $60 per person.

According to event coordinator, Bill Fullard, the following major sponsorships are available to provide an opportunity for individual and corporate support of OMAT’s mission: Title Sponsor at $10,000; Luncheon Sponsor at $5,000; Breakfast Sponsor at $2,500; Golf Carts Sponsor at $1,500; Hole-in-One Prize Sponsor at $1,000. Each sponsorship offers a golf package and other incentives.

OMAT is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care in the Caribbean and other developing countries. This year, OMAT made successful humanitarian missions to Haiti and Guyana. OMAT also conducted a successful flood relief campaign for Guyana and concluded its hurricane assistance effort for Grenada. Since its inception in 1992, OMAT has made humanitarian trips to Grenada, St. Lucia, Dominica, Dominican Republic and Botswana, Southern Africa.

“The purpose of the golf classic,” according to Dr. Carryl, “is to help OMAT continue its humanitarian activities and respond immediately when there is a crisis. Proceeds will also help us to donate equipment, pharmaceuticals and other supplies that are desperately needed in the facilities where our volunteers work. We look forward to having a full group of golfers and many wonderful guests support this effort.“
