FENWICK ISLAND, Del. -- Bayside Resort Golf Club is now a living, breathing golf course, with the golf shop up and running and the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course ready for its official debut later this month.

"We are extremely pleased with everything," said Bayside's head golf professional Bob Crowther. "There were high expectations for Bayside, and those expectations have been exceeded."

The fully stocked golf shop is open to the public, and while Bayside Resort Golf Club's members and guests are getting the first chance to play the 7,545-yard, par-72 layout, public play is to be accepted starting in September. Reservations for the initial September tee times are being taken at (302) 436-3400. Bayside also has opened its comprehensive practice facility, with a variety of teaching programs welcoming registrations.

"We have had our first preview days," Crowther said, "and the comments have ranged from members saying it's magnificent, to their being awestruck, to being absolutely speechless."

Nicklaus is to visit Bayside on August 8th to formally open the course, playing a special exhibition for Bayside homeowners, members and invited guests.

"The golf course vistas and views are outstanding," Crowther added, "and then you have the wild life. Deer are often seen running back and forth in addition to an occasional red fox sighting. It is all pretty spectacular."
