Dottie Pepper signs with The Golf Channel

Oct. 11, 2004 - Two-time major champion Dottie Pepper is moving to the broadcast booth next year, signing a contract with The Golf Channel to be a lead analyst for its tournament coverage.

Pepper, 39, announced her retirement in July because of chronic injuries. "She has the ability to energize a telecast with same personality and enthusiasm she has always shown on the golf course," said Tony Tortorici, executive producer of The Golf Channel.

Pepper saved most of that enthusiasm for the Solheim Cup, playing on six teams and bringing the kind of patriotism that often riled the Europeans. A 17-time winner, her best season was in 1992 when she won four times to lead the LPGA Tour in earnings and scoring average.
