JELD-WEN Tradition's purse increases to $2.5 million

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The JELD-WEN Tradition presented by Umpqua Bank increased the tournament purse $100,000 to a total of $2.5 million. This is due in large part to the JELD-WEN Tradition Foundation's commitment to make this tournament one of the most prestigious events on the Tour.

"Our entire board of directors, along with JELD-WEN, Inc., share a vision of making the JELD-WEN Tradition the premier event on the Champions Tour," said Henry Hewitt, chairman of the JELD-WEN Tradition Foundation Board of Directors. "Increasing the purse is one of the many steps we are taking to further that vision."

The JELD-WEN Tradition champion will receive $375,000; in 2004 champion Craig Stadler received $345,000.

"The Champions Tour applauds the news that the JELD-WEN Tradition is increasing its purse for this year's championship to $2.5 million," said Champions Tour president Rick George. "The JELD-WEN Tradition now shares billing with the Ford Senior Players Championship and the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship as having the second largest purse on the 2005 Champions Tour schedule. This is a significant statement about the prestige the JELD-WEN Tradition carries as one of our major championships."

The JELD-WEN Tradition presented by Umpqua Bank returns to The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club, August 22 - 28, 2005.
