ProTracGPS picks Gulf Hills G.C. in Mississippi for its GPS 'virtual caddy' release

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. -- ProTracGPS has selected Gulf Hills Golf Club on Mississippi's 'Golf Coast' to be the first course to be fully equipped with the recently released ProTracGPS virtual caddy system. This old style course, designed in 1927 by Jack Daray, is seen as the perfect place for today's technology to meet yesterday's classic course!

Its 'Golf Coast' location was a natural selection to benchmark ProTracGPS's new technology because of the expanding golf tourism market and favorable climate, according to the VP of Corporate Accounts, Mike Caldwell. The historic Gulf Hills club agreed to act as a test course in 2004 and was the first course to be fully equipped with the new system in January of 2005.

Gulf Hills has been welcoming golfers in the 300-year-old resort community of Ocean Springs, on Mississippi's Coast, for 78 years---and has withstood all the new shafts, club head materials, super distance golf balls, etc., and is still a good test of golf! Throughout its history, Gulf Hills has played host to many famous people including Elvis Presley, who liked to play the piano at the golf resort's Pink Pony Lounge. Touring professional Johnny Pott represented Gulf Hills on the PGA tour, and many entertainers still play the course from time to time when they are doing a show on the Coast.

"As a golf course manager, I like the unit's portability and versatility," said club professional Martin Reeves. "And I like taking advantage of the company's offering the system at no upfront cost, no risk and no long-term commitment."

ProTracGPS is the next generation of Global Positioning Satellite yardage system, combining the usability of the finest yardage book with enhanced full-color touch screen graphics. The unit's portability and versatility allows for easy installation without cart modification and maintenance/repair cost, making it much more versatile than the costly and bulky cart-based GPS yardage systems.

Several recent surveys have validated that the use of GPS systems improves scores an average of five strokes while decreasing playing time by 35 minutes. This system actually allows players to know where the "trouble" is, and how far they are from it------before getting there!

Club President Arnold Verhoeven likes the business advantages of the system. "Owners and Boards of Directors will like ProTracGPS's "no play-no pay" revenue sharing partnership that allows courses an additional source of revenue, needed in most competitive markets."
