TEMECULA, Calif. — Winning world-wide acclaim and out-scoring some of golf’s most recognized brand names, Akira Products proudly announces that the Akira ADR Series has been named as the 2005 Golf Clubs of the Year in the new book, 2005-2006, Don’t Make a Wrong Choice of a Golf Club by professional golfer Mr. Kenjirou Iwama.
“We’re very excited for Akira drivers and irons to receive the published recognition of professional golfers in the international golf community,” says Mike Matheny, president of Eastern Golf Company of Temecula, Calif., exclusive distributor of Akira golf clubs in the United States. “Akira Products has earned a strong international reputation for quality clubs that deliver performance in all conditions, and its corporate philosophy to inspire innovation and honest engineering has clearly positioned Akira to be among the world’s elite golf equipment manufacturers.”
The golf book, “2005-2006, Don’t Make a Wrong Choice of a Golf Club,” has published annually for 11 years and is jointly produced by Sansuisha Co., Ltd. and Kodansha Co., Ltd. of Tokyo. The book publishes the scientific analysis for 94 different golf club brands (submitted by manufacturers) tested in 45 different swing patterns, and then rates each club on the basis of three basic swing elements — clubhead speed, swing trajectory and face angle. Through the rating system, Akira ADR driver, ADR fairway wood and ADR irons were selected as “2005 The Golf Clubs of the Year.”
Matheny explains that the award-winning Akira ADR Driver features a face plate that possesses the same thickness throughout which minimizes loss of distance and feel and provides extreme forgiveness on off-center hits. Thirty grams of tungsten also strategically relocate the driver’s center of gravity and optimize performance. The Akira ADR irons use advanced Hyper Maraging 475 steel on the face to control spin and distance, and a barbell-shaped tungsten weight is positioned low in the rear of the sole to generate a high trajectory and maximize ball control and accuracy.
Through creative technologies and new design concepts such as stabilizing beam structures, hyper-steel manufacturing and variable face densities, Akira has worked relentlessly in developing clubs that provide maximum satisfaction to every golfer. Akira has also collaborated with many of the world’s most respected graphite shaft manufacturers — such as Mitsubishi, Graphite Design, Fujikura, Mamiya-OP and others — to offer custom-fit options in shaft lengths, flex and swingweight.
