Penn Liberty Bank to sponsor Pennsylvania amateur golf championship

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Penn Liberty Bank - a bank that opened its doors on September 1, 2004 in Wayne, Pa. -- has agreed to be presenting sponsor of the Montgomery County Amateur Championship Series.

The Montgomery County Amateur Championship Series includes the four-year-old Montgomery County Amateur Championship (Championship, Senior and Women's Divisions), the Montgomery County Junior Championship (Boys' and Girls' Divisions) and the Montgomery County Amateur Handicap Championship. The Junior Championship will be contested on Friday, August 5, while the other championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday August 6 and 7.

Proceeds from the championships go to the Dave Marshall Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships for players in the Montgomery County Junior Championship.

"This is the type of community-based event that interests us," said Brian Zwaan, president and C.O.O. of Penn Liberty Bank "Our roots are in Montgomery County and to have our name associated with a prestigious and worthwhile event is exciting. We know that Montgomery County is the golf capitol of Pennsylvania, so supporting its championship is a natural. But even more important is the scholarship fund that goes to young golfers, so that they can continue their careers in college."

Penn Liberty's main office is in Wayne and a second office is located on Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting. Construction on two additional branches in Blue Bell and Great Valley will begin in the fall.
