Nike Golf's Jason Gore captures fourth Nationwide Tour victory

BEAVERTON, Ore. (July 11, 2005) - Jason Gore, the Cinderella story of this year's U.S. Open, was the main character on this week's Nationwide Tour. The Nike Golf staff member who was the crowd favorite at one of golf's most prestigious golf tournaments, continues to make headlines after winning his first Nationwide Tour event this season and fourth of his career at the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

With his victory, Gore continued Nike Golf's winning streak by bringing the total number of worldwide wins by Nike Golf staff members in 2005 to a total of 11 (5 on the PGA Tour; 4 on the Nationwide; and 2 Internationally). Gore out dueled Doug LaBelle down the stretch to claim a one-stroke victory and a $108,000 first-place check. This performance catapulted him from 57th on the Nationwide Tour money list to 7th.

Sporting Nike Golf apparel and the Nike SP-6 shoe, Gore shot a 4-under-par final round score of 68 using Nike Golf's Pro Combo Tour irons, which emphasize forgiveness, feel and accuracy. On the 7,309-yard Pete Dye Golf Club, Gore finished tied for eighth in greens in regulation with a rate of 77.8 percent.

Gore says his goal this year is "to finish in the top 20 on the Nationwide Tour. If you're going to do that, then you've got to play here and you've got to play well. This is a great ticket to get back to the PGA Tour."

Looks like Gore is well on his way.
