Fresno's Running Horse G. & C.C. names Joann Dost exclusive photographer

FRESNO, California - Running Horse Golf & Country Club has announced it has selected world-renowned golf photographer Joann Dost as the official photographer for the club. Dost will capture the progress during the design and construction of the golf course through opening day of this new co-designed Jack Nicklaus/Jack Nicklaus II project. A Joann Dost gallery is currently planned for the 30,000 square foot clubhouse scheduled to open in 2006.

"Joann is simply the absolute best in her field, and in staying true to this project, we are bringing the best of everything to Running Horse," said Managing Partner Tom O'Meara. "Her work consistently captures the true essence and heart of golf properties. I fell in love with her work on such great courses like Pebble Beach, Cypress Point, St. Andrews and Pacific Dunes."

Joann Dost has practiced the art of golf photography since the late 1970s internationally. Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Vienna, Va., Joann had an early passion for the outdoors and sports through her father, a former Olympic speed skater, and brother, who played for the New York Mets. Introduced to the game of golf at the age of 15, Joann learned from PGA Professional Morgan Tiller, along with her father. In 1968 she won the Maryland State Junior Girls' Championship, the D.C. Junior Girls' Championship and the Tournament of Junior Champions.

By 1973 she was focused on playing professional golf and in '74 began playing the Australian Tour and the West Coast Group Fore Tour. She then placed a respectable third in the LPGA Qualifying School. She achieved her Touring Professional status on the LPGA tour by 1976. During Joann's five years on the LPGA Tour, she had several top-ten finishes, shot a low round of 66 and finished third at the Ping Championship in Portland, Oregon. Moving to Pebble Beach in 1977, Joann turned her focus on photography, and through a combination of self-instruction, practice and classes from photography masters, such as Ansel Adams and John Woods, her skills increased and her photographic vision was revealed to the world. Joann still resides in Monterey today.
