Waitsfield, Vermont based Divot Communication, publisher of the nation's finest regional golf lifestyle magazines, including New York Golf, Garden State Golf, Connecticut Golf, Commonwealth Golf, Vermont Golf, New Hampshire Golf and The Best of Northeast Golf, has announced the hiring of David Barrett as editor-in-chief for nine of its publications (NY, CT, MA, NJ, VT, NH).

David brings a wealth of experience with 25 years of writing and editing golf for newspapers, magazines and books, including 18 years at GOLF Magazine. A graduate of Haverford College in Pennsylvania, Barrett started covering golf as a sports writer for the Augusta Chronicle in Augusta, Georgia. In 1985 he began as a features editor for GOLF Magazine. During his tenure, the last 12 years as a senior editor, the magazine's circulation increased by 50% and the editorial coverage and writing received many accolades.

Since leaving GOLF in 2003, Barrett has edited three books for Harry N. Abrams Publishing, written a book on U.S. Open golf courses to be published by Abrams in 2006, and contributed articles to Sports Illustrated Golf Plus, New York Golf magazine and Met Golfer.
