Austin, Texas (July 6, 2005) -- Barton Creek Resort & Spa's World Class Golf
Instruction gets a ladies' touch as the team welcomes an
industry leader in golf instruction for women. Veteran teaching
professional Barbara Puett is the newest edition to the superb group of
Golf Professionals at Barton Creek's Chuck Cook Golf Academy. The Academy
offers sessions including Ladies-Only, Short Game, Beginner,
Family and Total Golf schools. Puett joins a world class team including
Chuck Cook, top ten instructor in the nation. She will assist Cook with
various Academy schools and will offer one-on-one instruction.
"Our goal is to improve the games and meet the needs of all golfers. That's
what keeps us the state's best facility," said Chuck Cook. "Female
participation in the sport is growing in leaps and bounds and so is the
demand for female Golf Pros. I am confident Barbara's expertise in golf
instruction for women will bring some great talent to light."
In addition to being a top-notch instructor, Barbara Puett is a former
Women's Texas State Champion, six-time winner of the Austin City
Women's Championship and was named Golf Teacher of the Year by the Austin
American-Statesman.
"It is such a privilege working with Chuck and the outstanding teaching
staff at Barton Creek," Puett said. "I love covering the bare basics with
beginners and on the other hand, I get a kick out of helping even the most
advanced players lower their score."
Through her golf instruction, Puett continues to spread the wisdom and
humor of her close friend and lifelong teacher, Harvey Penick. She is
an accomplished author with books such as A Woman's Own Golf Book: Simple
Lessons for a Lifetime of Great Golf and Golf Etiquette and a journalist
writing columns for Golf For Women, Women's Golf Texas and PGAtour.com.
While Puett has taught thousands of female
golfers, her client list also includes males, beginners and advanced
players.
"The knowledge and expertise Barbara brings with her is huge for all of our
members and guests but, especially for ladies, " said G. Michael Thomas,
President and COO, Barton Creek Resort & Spa. "She has the ability to pick
up on her student's learning style and give advice in a way that all
golfers can understand and follow."
Nestled in a private Hill Country setting, Barton Creek's Golf Academy is
located at the Fazio Canyons course. Here students can take advantage of
five short-game greens for putting and chipping, the eight-camera "Swing
Solutions" video software system to analyze your game, a trouble shot area
complete with a fairway bunker and hitting bays that oversee the driving
range. Also at the Academy is a quaint clubhouse, the Rock House, which is
fully equipped for golfers needs including day lockers, spacious classrooms
