Shin continues his excellent run

WELLINGTON – Oct. 7, 2004 - Samuel Shin (North Harbour) leads the 14 years age group and is second equal in the overall standings after the first round of the Jack Newton International Junior Classic at The Oaks Golf and Country Club in Cessnock, New South Wales.

Shin’s 1 under par round was impressive considering the 4 man kiwi contingent faced hot and windy conditions late in the day. Jae An (Bay of Plenty) lies in 4th spot in the 16 years age group after a 2 over par 74 while Aaron Leech (Wellington) struggled to a 6 over par 78.

Perry Hayman (Wellington) also found the going tough in the blustery conditions scoring a 10 over par 82. The New Zealand representatives will have an early start in the second round and hopefully this will provide them will more benign conditions.

The full range of scores for the tournament can be found on the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation website at www.jnjgf.org.au/mainpage.asp

The four-round tournament concludes on Friday 8 October.
