The PGA Foundation is a supporter of the PGA of America Chip Beck Evans Scholarship program. The program was established in 1994, three years after Beck became the second player in history to post a 59 in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Beck's award was provided by Hilton Hotels Corporation, of which the PGA Foundation received a portion to use for future scholarship distribution.
The Evans Scholars Foundation, founded in 1930 in honor of amateur golf great Chick Evans, administers college scholarships and has awarded more than 8,000 scholarships to students, including 826 currently attending 20 universities nationwide. The program was begun for deserving caddies who seek a college education.
