CHICOPEE, MA - The Top-Flite Golf Company and its Ben Hogan Golf division brought together a cross section of professional athletes from the PGA to NASCAR to the NBA all in the name of charity. A special event, "Drive for Kids", was held in New York City, June 20, to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. The Camp was started by Kyle and Patty Petty in honor of the Petty's son Adam (Richard Petty's grandson) who was killed four years ago in a racing accident.
The event's silent auction raised $12,000. The biggest draw of the silent auction was a U.S. Open flag signed by 2005 U.S. Open Champion Michael Campbell which raised $3,400. A Wayne Gretzky autographed jersey and an NBA MVP Steve Nash autographed NBA jersey each raised $2,000.
Among the athletes attending the event were Rusty Wallace, Ben Hogan and Top-Flite players J.J. Henry and Ricky Barnes, PGA player Chris DiMarco and Richard Jefferson of the New Jersey Nets.
