ORLANDO (June 20, 2005) ­ Shingle Creek Golf Club, which has quickly established itself as one of the best new golf courses in Orlando and Central Florida, has now proven itself to be rated as one of the best new courses in the nation.

Golfweek, in its current June 18 edition, has named Shingle Creek as one of the Top 40 new golf courses in the country for 2005. All the courses judged by Golfweek America's Top raters were opened in 2003-04.

The evaluation process to determine the best new courses was conducted on the basis of 10 separate but strong criteria. They include routing; quality of shaping; overall land plan; greens and surrounds; the variety and memorability of the par-3's, par-4's, and par-5's; tree and landscape management; and conditioning. Finally, courses were judged on what Golfweek calls its "Walk In The Park Test", which the publication defines as "The sense of the place as worthy of spending 4 hours on it."

"At more than 7,200 yards over a par-72 championship layout, Shingle Creek is anything but a good walk spoiled," says Scott, speaking in 'Twain' language. "This year, we were rated among the 40 best new courses in the country. In the future, as the golf course matures and the facility continues to expand, we hope to be rated in the top-100 resort courses in the nation."
