BEAVERTON, Ore. - Kim Felton made a birdie putt on 18 to give him his first career victory on the Nationwide Tour in the Knoxville Open today, rounding out a great weekend for Nike Golf's Tour Staff.
His winning performance capped off a great week, after other exciting Nike Golf showings at the U.S. Open, where there was the dramatic run by eventual runner-up Tiger Woods in the final round; the Cinderella story of Jason Gore, who captured the hearts of golf fans everywhere during championship week; and Stewart Cink, John Cook and K.J. Choi, who each finished among the top-20.
With his victory, Felton, a native of Perth, Australia, continued Nike Golf's winning streak by bringing the total number of worldwide wins by Nike Golf staff members in 2005 to a total of 10 (5 on the PGA Tour; 3 on the Nationwide; and 2 Internationally). Like the majority of Nike Golf's staff members, Felton used the Nike One Platinum Ball and his Ignite 410 driver, which led him to a ranking of second in driving accuracy with a rate of 78.6 percent.
Also contributing to his success was a Nike proto-type putter, which helped him toward 18 birdies during the tournament and a ranking of first in putts per round. Felton used the Nike Pro-Combo Irons to put him in sub-par position. Finishing out the arsenal in his bag is an Ignite T60 3-wood and 53-degree and 60-degree wedges.
