Five Chapters of The First Tee to host "Humana Days" To Promote Character Education
St. Augustine, Fla. - The First Tee announced a partnership with Humana Inc., in support of The First Tee's mission to impact the lives of young people through character development and life-enhancing values associated with the game of golf. The partnership evolved from Humana's relationship with the PGA TOUR, one of The First Tee's Founding Partners. Humana will donate over $150,000 to The First Tee on both the local and national levels and create mentoring opportunities with Humana associates.
"Partnerships are vital to The First Tee's growth and success," said Joe Louis Barrow, Jr., The First Tee executive director. "We are thrilled that Humana shares our commitment to educating youth through value-acquisition and positive youth development."
"There are a great many programs for young people across the country, but few have the impact that The First Tee is having on kids through a unique way to learn life skills," said Steve Moya, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Humana. "We are excited about working with The First Tee to provide more young people with an opportunity to take part in a life-changing experience."
Five Chapters of The First Tee will host "Humana Days" at their facility in association with PGA TOUR and Nationwide Tour events. A skills challenge emphasizing The First Tee Nine Core Values - confidence, courtesy, honesty, integrity, judgment, perseverance, respect, responsibility and sportsmanship - will be featured at each site.
"Humana Days" are designed to raise awareness for The First Tee and create synergy between Humana associates and The First Tee participants. Humana is dedicated to cultural development in communities where the company has a significant presence.
