October 05, 2004, Sunset Beach, N.C. — Construction of the newest course at Ocean Ridge Plantation, Leopard’s Case, is progressing ahead with a schedule opening in 2006. Leopard’s Chase has already taken shape with greens, bunkers, tee boxes and hazards in place.
The par 71 course is tucked between the front nine of Panther’s Run and back nine of Tiger’s Eye. Measuring more than 7,000 yards and featuring Bent grass greens, Leopard’s Chase is a Tim Cate design; Cate also designed the award winning, Tiger’s Eye and Panther’s Run. This new cat will offer stunning natural vistas and play along expansive natural wetlands. It also features dramatic elevation changes.
“Tim plans on making this course a step above Tiger’s Eye, which is on the list of ‘America’s Top 100 Public Courses,’” said Tom Plankers, Director Of Golf at Ocean Ridge Plantation. “That’s quite a goal. It’s going to be a challenging layout. And some of the course is very target-oriented due to the topography of the land.”
Leopard's Chase will join Lion's Paw, Panther's Run and Tiger's Eye to round out the litter of "Big Cats" at Ocean Ridge Plantation, a 2,000 acre residential community featuring championship golf, a pristine nature preserve and a beautiful choice of homes and homesites.
