Brooks Baldwin used an SMT Spectrum driver to win his first ever LDA Tour Event at The Alpha Classic held in Des Moines, IA. On the Long Drive Circuit, the odds are never in your favor going into your first competition. But Brooks didn't let that get to him. He crushed the field at what is considered the largest event ever held on the LDA Circuit and captured another Open victory for SMT Golf by besting his competition by a whopping 19 yards.

I guess you could say that Baldwin quickly established his presence on the LDA Tour, especially considering the competition that showed up to compete at this event. Brooks cashed the largest check to date at an LDA Tour event, $18,000 for his victory and he did it against the largest field in the history of the LDA Tour, including 5 former World Long Drive Champions who combined have won 8 World Long Drive Championships.

Baldwin bested the runner up by 19 yards, which is almost unheard of on the LDA Tour. "This couldn't have happened to a nicer guy," said Mike Tait, President of SMT Golf. "Brooks wrote me a letter a few weeks ago telling me how much he liked our drivers and how he planned on using them in his first competition. Little did I know what he was capable of? He is an unbelievable athlete and generates an amazing amount of clubhead speed. He competed against the 'best of the best' on the LDA Circuit and absolutely dominated. I think you're going to hear a lot more from this talented young player in the months to come both in LDA competitions and on the mini tours."
