The St Andrews Bay Golf Resort and Spa will host The RE/MAX Long Drive Championship of Scotland on Saturday June 18th.
This is part of ‘The World’s Biggest Golf Day’ where twelve Guinness World Records will be attempted.
All golfers are invited to compete in the premier event in power golf. Action begins at 12.00 am.
Competition will take place in three divisions – Open, Seniors (45+ years) and Ladies
Entry fees are £35 Open Division and £28 Ladies and Seniors Divisions. The best hitters on the day will progress to The RE/MAX European Long Drive Final in Dublin on September 4th. The ultimate goal is to earn a spot at the 2005 RE/MAX WLDC finals, which take place in Mesquite Nevada, USA on October 18 – 22.
Golfers will hit six drives per entry, with their longest official drive determining their place for further hitting in the final standings later in the day. Our ‘double elimination’ format allows all drivers at least two opportunities to progress to further rounds. This sport is not about science or finesse. It is not golf for the purist but is the most spectacular power show for it’s growing band of followers, both players and spectators. The emphasis in this event is not only on how far a ball can be driven but also on how accurate a player can be. Put simply, all a player has to do is blast a ball as far as possible, although, all qualifying drives must be within a grid some 35-45 metres wide.
Everyone loves to hit a long drive and every golf club has lots of big hitters, this is their opportunity to prove it.
It is difficult to explain the experience and the excitement of competitive long drive. You feel a real rush of adrenaline standing on the tee and trying to bust a big one down the middle.
