Grand Traverse Resort and Spa welcomes junior golfers

ACME, Mich. June 1, 2005 -- Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is welcoming junior golfers like never before with the addition of new junior rates for all three of its courses, junior tees on the Spruce Run golf course, and junior equipment for sale in the pro shop.

"We made these changes because we've noticed more families who want to play together and it is clear that junior golfers are the future of the game," said Director of Golf Tom McGee. "We're really pleased to make juniors feel welcome with their own rates on all three of our courses and tees of their own on Spruce Run."

- Junior Tees -

The junior tees on Spruce Run are placed approximately 145 yards out on par-4s and 5s, and 75 yards out on par-3s, making the length of the golf course approximately 1,050 yards per nine, compared to between approximately 2,950-3,365 yards per nine for adults. Older juniors, depending on ability, may choose to play from the standard forward tees (red) or middle tees (white), rather than the junior tees.

- Junior Rates and Equipment -

The new junior golf rates are approximately 50% of the full rate on The Bear, The Wolverine, and Spruce Run. Junior rates apply to golfers age 17 and under. The Resort has also added a selection of junior golf equipment by U.S. Kids Golf for sale in its pro shop. In fact, U.S. Kids Golf supplied the junior tees to the Resort. The equipment selection includes metal-woods, irons, wedges, putters, gloves, caps, towels, and club covers. Clubs are sold individually or in starter sets that include a golf bag.
