Norton, Mass., -- In an effort to help support cancer research, Golf Fights Cancer, a non-profit volunteer organization made up of both industry professionals and local New England golfers, and the New England Golf Course Owners Association, today announced a unique fundraising partnership, "Golf Fights Cancer Month," that is expected to raise thousands of dollars towards the fight against cancer.
Leading golf courses across New England will collect donations from golfers playing at participating courses during the month of June, with all proceeds going directly to the Golf Fights Cancer organization. Proceeds will be used to fund cancer research at the Floating Hospital Children's Cancer Center and for the Adele R. Decof Foundation for the purpose of improving cancer care and treatment, with a special focus on breast cancer.
"We are honored to be a part of Golf Fights Cancer Month" said Susan Curtin, Executive Director of The New England Golf Course Owners Association. "We are committed to making this year's inaugural event a big success. The golf business is made up of a community of very special and giving people that want to make a difference. Hopefully New England can be the catalyst to grow this important fundraising event across the country."
GOLF MAGAZINE, the most widely read publication in golf, is supporting "Golf Fights Cancer Month" by including a one year subscription to the publication with every paid greens fee at participating courses during the month. At the end of June, courses participating in "Golf Fights Cancer Month" will donate 100% of golfers' contributions to Golf Fights Cancer. The following courses have committed to participate:
