DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Golf For Women Magazine LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) Championship is headed to the beautiful World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla., for this year's competition, slated for July 24-27.
The Golf For Women Magazine LPGA T&CP Championship is the LPGA T&CP's showcase event and the premier tournament featuring the best women teaching and club professionals in the world.
This year will serve as the 18th staging of the Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament consists of stroke play competition and is one of two major championships for LPGA T&CP members.
For the past two years, the annual tournament was held at LPGA International's Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., but is now moving to the World Golf Village's Slammer & Squire Golf Course.
When the tournament started in 1983 it was held every other year. Since 1993, the tournament has been held annually. Eight different states have hosted the national event that features 120 LPGA T&CP members in the championship division and 24 LPGA T&CP members in the senior division, for members over the age of 50.
The four-day event features a pro-am on Sunday, July 24 and then the three days of competition from July 25-27. More than a $100,000 purse is up for grabs, with the championship division winner earning $13,000. The Titleist, Cobra and FootJoy Pro-Am will be open to public participants.
Last year, Cindy Miller and Cheryl Stacy needed two extra holes before a winner was decided. Miller outlasted Stacy in the sudden-death playoff, while Linda Grover captured the senior division crown.
