Windham, VT - Birch-lined fairways, stone walls, scenic mountain vistas and breathtaking flower gardens serve as the dramatic backdrop for the newest member of the Okemo family of golf, Tater Hill Golf Club, located in Windham, Vermont.
Tater Hill Golf Club features rolling hills and undulating fairways with moderate elevation changes that provide plenty of challenge for low handicaps, yet playable for all ability levels. Nature is a star attraction at Tater Hill with birdhouses, wetland areas, magnificent flower gardens and tree-lined fairways.
First built in 1961 on the preserve of a 500-acre working potato farm, the 9-hole course was defined by its country charm and rustic New England character. In the early 1990's the course was expanded to an 18-hole layout, but was in need of improvement to make the course playable and more enjoyable.
DINING ON THE TERRACE
Today, the course still possesses the warmth and rural charm of yester-year, but with a new and modern twist. Measuring 6,800 yards in length, the par 72, 18-hole course layout has recently undergone significant capital improvements. During the summer of 2004, six newly designed greens were constructed and an extensive course maintenance program was added to improve upon the overall quality of the course maintenance. This will ensure that Tater Hill Golf Club will be in prime playing condition every day of the season. New tee to green cart paths were constructed on the newly renovated golf holes to re-route the course layout, allowing players to conveniently walk the first nine holes. The course provides plenty of options for practice before and after a round of golf with a large practice putting green, 150-yard driving range with practice bunker and target greens.
The country clubhouse features comfortable furnishings, a large stone fireplace, exposed original beams and a large terrace overlooking the course layout. The clubhouse also contains all of the services and conveniences found at a modern facility, with a fully stocked Pro Shop containing the very latest in golf fashions and an exceptional line of golf equipment and accessories.
Golf Instructional Programs:
A variety of golf instructional programs are offered at Tater Hill Golf Club that are tailor-made for any ability level. Private lessons, group lessons and the popular "Tater Tots" golf lessons for juniors are ideal for any beginner golfer who is just getting started, or for kids who want to tune up their swing and improve upon their golf game.
Tater Tots lessons are designed for golfer's high school age or younger and are held every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 am until the start of school season. These Junior Lessons will teach the basics of the golf swing including putting, short game and full swing and practice on the driving range and experience on course play. Participants do not need to be a member to participate and golf equipment is available for juniors who don't have their own clubs.
