GEORGIA, - Oct. 2, 2004 - Tourism is now the second largest industry in Georgia and at the end of the 2004 Governors Conference on Tourism, Governor Purdue announced the six 2004 Tourism Award winners. Amongst them was IAGTO member Andrew Ward, General Manager from Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. Andrew was recognized for his work nationally and internationally in promoting Golf in Georgia.
The 2004 Governors Conference on Tourism took place in Statesboro, Georgia from September 15th thru to 17th when over 400 people from around the State came together for the Annual conference, hosted by the GDEcD (Georgia Department of Economic Development formally known as the GDITT - GA Dept. Industry, Trade and Tourism).
Delegates from Chambers of Commerce, Convention and Visitor Bureaus, State Associations and the Private Sector came together over the three-day period.
