SortaGolf sorta makes sense for hack golfers

I think the only people in this World who really understand the rules of golf are probably those ready to study law.

Amateur golfers hardly follow the rules of The United States Golf Assocation. Serious golfer do their best to believe they are following the black letter of the book. If golfers want to really believe they are accomplishing something, then following the rules will increase their enjoyment as well as let them take away something meaningful from the game.

Are you a part of the vast majority of golfers who rarely play tourneys, golf for fun and take a provisional from time to time? Well, maybe SortaGolf is your ticket. Started by the Howard Dean of Golf, Donn Glenn has seven amendments that are designed to make the game faster and easier for the hack. He is building quite a following.

Those of us who take provisionals, improve our lies, carry too many clubs in our bags, are not headed for the PGA in the first place. Many hacks might just benefit from the SortaGolf mentality. If nothing else, they will have quicker rounds of golf which will keep them in the game longer.

If you are playing for money or on your way to serious competition, SortaGolf is not going to be your cup of tea. That's fine. If nothing else, check out Glenn and his site. He has a sense of humor Golf sorely neads.
