MALVERN, Pa. -- With honorary chairman Ukee Washington -- the popular morning news anchor for CBS-3 television in Philadelphia -- leading the way, an impressive field of celebrities is in place for the 2nd Annual Divine 9 Open Celebrity Pro-Am golf team championship at White Manor CC on Friday, May 20.
The tournament committee received early commitments from an interesting mix of celebrities from both the sports and television fields.
Former star athletes such as Gary Dornhoeffer and Bob "The Hound" Kelley from the Philadelphia Flyers "Broad Street Bullies" days, NFL All-Pro defensive back and broadcasting legend Tom Brookshier, 76er and Celtic guard Gerald Henderson, American League MVP Bobby Shantz, and Philadelphia Phillies slugger Greg Luzinski will be playing in the event that benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Media luminaries such as radio legend and host of the Inside Golf television show Don Cannon, Comcast SportsNet and USA television sports reporter Michael Barkann, former NFL defensive back Beasley Reece of CBS-3, Scott Palmer of Channel 6, Daily News golf writer Mike Kern, local Philadelphian Gervis from the Survivor Amazon television show, and Dawn Timmeney of NBC-10 will make the day even more exciting.
A few spots still remain for amateurs wishing to play in the morning Pro-Am shotgun or the afternoon Celebrity-Corporate shotgun.
