DRESHER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Section PGA has contracted the Inside Golf Television Show to document the 2005 season. The footage will be incorporated to create a special Inside Golf Television show to run on November 19, 2005 on Comcast SportsNet.
The goal of the project is to document the business, the people, and the game of the Philadelphia Section PGA. "We wanted to be able to show people what the Philadelphia Section PGA is truly about," said Geoff Surrette, Philadelphia Section PGA Executive Director. "Our long-standing partnership with Inside Golf made this the perfect venue to accomplish our goals."
The show will feature footage, interviews and highlights from the various Section PGA events and programs. The Variety Club of Philadelphia, the Section's primary charity, will play a prominent roll in the show as 2005 marks the 30th anniversary of the Philadelphia Section PGA's involvement with the organization. The Section has been named as the honoree at the 2005 Variety Club Tournament of Champions to be held at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club on June 7-8, 2005. Highlights from this event will feature the Pro-am, individual professional tournament and the Champions Gala on June 9, 2005 at the Society Hill Sheraton in Philadelphia.
In addition to the Variety Club highlights, many other programs will be featured such as the PGA Junior Tour, the Play Golf America Day, the PGA Section Championship, various PGA member tournaments and associated Pro-am's, as well as PGA business events. "The goal of the program is to show the public and our sponsors the true scope and focus of our organization," explains Tom Carpus, Philadelphia Section PGA President. "The organization and the membership are involved with so many great events and programs aside from tournament competition."
Inside Golf, which is in its eight year on the air, has had a long-standing alliance with the Philadelphia Section PGA. The purpose of the alliance is to work together to bring the golfers of the Delaware Valley to the Philadelphia Section PGA and its' PGA member clubs and courses. In addition to the show the footage will be put on a DVD and sent to every Philadelphia PGA Section Member, sponsor and supporter.
