Mitchell® Golf Equipment Institute just completed another Club Performance Fitting Specialists class April 19th at its Orlando campus. This two-day masters class offers training related to club performance fitting. It is located at Orange County National Golf Center & Lodge. Classes are held at Professional Golfer’s Career College campus and on the range at the learning studio of American Tour Golf Schools.
The Club Performance Fitting Specialist curriculum begins with a study of club specifications and head, shaft and grip designs and how these designs influence ball flight. Attendees analyzed their own golf clubs to quantify how club specifications affect ball flight. Zelocity PureLaunch™ and Accusport Vector™ launch monitors are used to analyze club and ball performance. The class includes actual launch monitor time with each student hitting balls with a matrix of clubs from Cleveland Golf, KZ Golf, Tommy Armour Golf, and Sonartec. These demo clubs were custom made with a matrix of shafts from Aldila, Grafalloy, UST, Rapport and the original manufacturer. The class concluded with a discussion of how to best match club specifications with launch monitor data to achieve desired club performance.
Each student was awarded a personalized certificate identifying him as a Mitchell® Certified Club Performance Fitting Specialist. These newly certified Club Performance Fitting Specialists include Fernando Alvarez, PGCC student, Orlando, FL; Todd Jordan, PGCC student, Orlando, FL; Joe Moravick, Joe's Custom Clubs, Columbia Hts, MN; Rick Power, Northside Driving Range, Lakeland, FL; Adam Prosser, PGCC student, Oakland, FL; Jeff Rennert, Jeff's Golf Club Repair, Vero Beach, FL; Andrew Szunyog, PGCC student, Eustis, FL; and Robin Walton, Univ. of Fla. Women's Assistant Golf Coach, Gainesville, FL.
Instructors for this class include PGA Golf Professionals Paul Bessler, and Jay Schrader. Both are distinguished golf professionals and club makers. Paul states, “Our newest Certified Club Performance Fitting Specialists have gained the knowledge to use launch monitor technology to upgrade the performance of any player’s golf clubs. Each student has the understanding of how golf club specifications influence ball performance and are ready to put their knowledge to work fitting their customers.”
Mitchell® Golf Equipment Institute offers both club repair and club performance fitting classes throughout the year. Club Performance Fitting Specialist classes cost $395.00 for the 2-day class. The 3-day Certified Club Repair Technician class cost $295.00.
