Aerotech introduces ultralight steelfiber 170 iron shaft

BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON - Aerotech reaches new heights, or lows as the case may be, with the introduction of the new ultra-light SteelFiber i70 iron shaft. The i70 incorporates the same innovative SteelFiber technology as its predecessors, the i80 and i95, but at a substantially lower weight. At 75 grams and with over 59 miles of micro thin steel fiber applied to the surface of each shaft the i70 has the stability and control of a steel shaft, yet has the distance and vibration dampening characteristics of an all graphite shaft.

"As we have gotten more proficient working with the steel fiber material we have been able to stretch the design limits making it possible to reach this lighter weight, said Chris Hilleary, VP of Aerotech's Golf Division. Our most critical design feature for this shaft was not just hitting the weight target but also maintaining the control and consistency that the SteelFiber shaft has become known for."

The i70 shaft is designed with a slightly more active tip than the i80 and i95 models, which allows the slower swing speed players to load the shaft more effectively during the swing and get the most out of their irons. This makes the i70 a perfect match for the players looking to pick up distance in their irons yet not giving up the control and consistency found in heavier weight shafts. The i70 is produced in .370" parallel tip in S, R and A flex and is available immediately through Golfsmith. Suggested Retail Price for the i70 shaft is $27.50.
