Ojai golf workshop with Dr. Joe Parent

Hot on the heels of a $70 million renovation, the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa announces the expansion of its popular Academy of Golf instructional programs. Dr. Joseph Parent, mental game coach for the #1 ranked golfer in the world Vijay Singh, will kick off a series of programs with “To Be the Best,” a hands-on workshop which explores both the mental and physical aspects of the game of golf.
Slated for the weekend of September 23-25, 2005, “To Be the Best” includes accommodations for two nights at the beautifully renovated Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, 16 hours of instruction and play on the resort’s championship 18-hole course, and lunch both days. The package is priced at $2,000 per couple or $1,400 per person. In addition to the workshop, participants will have plenty of time to enjoy the amenities of the resort, including the award-winning Spa Ojai.
Dr. Parent, PGA TOUR Instructor, corporate speaker and author of the best-selling book “Zen Golf,” will join the Inn’s Director of Instruction, Jeff Johnson, for “To Be the Best.” Using digital video technology and state-of-the-art computer analysis, Johnson will examine your swing mechanics, while Parent provides keys to developing a positive mental approach to the game.
Acclaimed mental game coach to the stars of the PGA TOUR, as well as celebrities of television and film, Dr. Parent has been featured on CNN’s Headline News, NBC’s “Today” show in New York, and is a frequent guest on The Golf Channel.
Jeff Johnson, a UCLA All-American golf standout under Coach Eddie Merrins and PGA golf professional, has headed up the resort’s acclaimed Academy of Golf since 1996.
The 305-room Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, a legendary resort near Santa Barbara, California, has just undergone a $70 million renovation which included the addition of new guest rooms and the renovation of existing guest rooms, a new lobby and entrance, golf shop, restaurants, and ballrooms and meeting spaces – all done while preserving the resort’s original Wallace Neff design and unique sense of place.

It is repeatedly rated a silver medal resort by Golf magazine, whose editors also named Ojai’s hole #2 among the “500 World’s Greatest Golf Holes.”
