Norcross, GA - Mizuno, the industry leader in forging technology, announced that their MP-32 iron with Cut Muscle design has been selected the "Testers' Top Pick" in GOLF Magazine's 2005 Club Test. A Mizuno forged iron has now been the highest rated iron in GOLF Magazine's Club Test for the last three years running, the MP-30 in 2003, the MX-23 in 2004, and now the MP-32 in 2005. Sweeping three years in a row reflects the unmatched designs, quality, and performance of Mizuno irons.
The MP-32 took the top spot in a bit of a landslide, receiving 12 first place votes while the nearest competitor received only 8. The MP-32 adds this prestigious honor from GOLF Magazine to its impressive resume, which already includes the "Editors' Choice" award in the player's club category of Golf Digest's 2005 Hot List. Being awarded the highest honors by the two biggest and most reputable publications in the golf industry is truly a remarkable feet, and puts this high performance iron in a class by itself!
"We are extremely proud and honored that the new MP-32 has received the "Testers' Top Pick" designation from GOLF Magazine," said Bob Puccini, President Mizuno USA, Inc., and Chairman, Mizuno Canada, Ltd. "The MP-32 iron and the performance it provides is a direct result of our dedication to, and investment in, Research & Development, Club Design, and our patented Grain Flow Forging process which produces irons of unmatched consistency, feel, and performance. The MP-32 with its innovative and distinctive Cut Muscle design is the first iron of its kind, and as these awards demonstrate, anyone who tries it will agree that there's nothing else like it on the market."
Through intensive research, the Mizuno Global Product Design Team evaluated the evolution of the game of golf and, in turn, created the MP-32 iron with Cut Muscle design technology to maximize performance in today's demanding golf conditions. Utilizing patented Grain Flow Forging technology and the breakthrough Cut Muscle design, Mizuno engineers strategically positioned weight in specific areas of each club to create a consistent sweet spot location, and a precisely placed center of gravity, while maintaining the maximum amount of solid feel throughout the set. The result is an iron that delivers an extremely controllable and predictable penetrating ball flight, with a mid-high trajectory in the long irons and a mid trajectory in the scoring irons.
"Due to the many advances in players' abilities, equipment, instruction, and course conditions, better golfers are hitting the ball farther and scores are getting lower. As a result, players are having to be more aggressive with their irons," said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. "The MP-32, with its consistent sweet spot location and controllable ball flight, allows today's better players to execute aggressive shot making on a more consistent basis."
The key to MP-32 and Cut Muscle design technology is the perfect positioning of the weight that is "cut" from the "muscle" area of a traditional muscle back iron into strategic locations in the lower back and surrounding portions of the club. This movement of mass around the clubhead ideally positions the COG and creates a consistent sweet spot location throughout the set. The COG of the MP-32 is precisely located with respect to the shaft axis in order to eliminate any draw/fade bias, thus allowing the player maximum ball flight control.
