(OVERLAND PARK, Kansas) – PeakVision Sports – maker of sunglasses designed specifically for golfers and featuring patented Dual-Zone technology in its 100-percent, distortion-free lenses – has signed CBS’s off-the-wall golf commentator David Feherty to a multi-year promotional agreement.
The colorful and humorous Feherty joins PGA TOUR players Scott McCarron and Billy Andrade and Champions TOUR player Bruce Fleisher as PeakVision endorsers. Feherty – recognized as golf’s ‘king of one-liners,’ will wear PeakVision sunglasses exclusively during his on-course reporting for CBS, and will be featured in television and print advertising, and on www.PeakVisionSports.com .
“PeakVision sunglasses really do help players read greens better,” says Feherty in his familiar Irish brogue. “And, I should know, it’s my job to read greens. Now I’ll be able to convey more accurate information to viewers and make better predictions about how putts will roll. Frankly, it won’t surprise me if Scott, Billy and Bruce all become even better putters and players in coming months. The vision enhancements PeakVision eyewear provide are dramatic and immediate.”
Before joining CBS in 1997, Feherty enjoyed a successful professional golf career with 10 victories worldwide and over $3 million in prize money. A member of Europe’s 1991 Ryder Cup team, he won the ICL International, the Italian Open, Scottish Open, South Africa PGA, BMW Open, Cannes Open and Madrid Open. He captained the winning Irish team in the 1990 Alfred Dunhill Cup.
“We are ecstatic to have David onboard at such an exciting time in this company’s brief history,” says Scott Berg, President of PeakVision Sports. “He is an iconic figure among everyday golfers, and he is greatly respected by his peers and the PGA TOUR players he reports about on CBS.”
Feherty’s success extends beyond his broadcast work for CBS. He writes extremely popular monthly and bi-monthly columns for GOLF Magazine and its website, Golfonline.com, respectively. In addition, he’s author of three best-selling books – the fictional “A Nasty Bit of Rough,” his first collection of humorous articles, “Somewhere in Ireland, A Village is Missing an Idiot” and “David Feherty’s Totally Subjective History of the Ryder Cup.” His newest book, “An Idiot for All Seasons” will be released in April 2005.
About PeakVision Sports
The first major innovation in golfer-sunglass technology in more than 40 years, PeakVision Sports’ high-performance eyewear represents a radical step in optical design and manufacturing. The vast majority of sunglasses since the 1960s have had single-filter, polycarbonate lenses incapable of properly distinguishing between the bright hues of the horizon and sky and the dark hues of terrain and landscape.
A paradigm-shifting breakthrough in sunglasses, PeakVision’s innovative Dual-Zone lenses feature neutral-density gray tinting in the upper zone that reduces glare and allows for accurate distance perception. The spectrally-tuned amber color in the lower zone highlights the contours of the green for better reads of putts than with the naked eye. Incorporating these two filters into one lens balances the lighting extremes and provides decreased eye fatigue, optimal visual acuity and enhanced speed of perception.
The material used in PeakVision Sports lenses is a revolutionary optical polymer that offers superior optical clarity and uniformity, scratch resistance, durability and ultra-light weight compared to polycarbonate. This material is the latest technology, originally developed for the windscreens in military helicopters.
PeakVision eyewear provides 100 percent UV400 protection from the entire spectrum of dangerous UV radiation.
The company recently unveiled four distinct, stylish models: Classic, Chip, Shot and Neva. All men’s and women’s Classic and Chip models are available in six stylish finishes (matte and polished black, matte and polished tortoise, polished graphite and metallic silver) with interchangeable lenses. MSRP: Classic ($129), Chip ($149), Shot ($149), Neva ($139).
In addition to golfers performing at higher levels wearing PeakVision sunglasses, they are also popular among skiers, professional baseball umpires and pilots. For more information, call 888.856-3419, email sales@peakvisionsports.com or visit www.peakvisionsports.com .
