TaylorMade tour staff professionals used special edition hats and bags

CARLSBAD, Calif. - TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals participating in this year's Masters Tournament wore special edition hats and used special edition staff bags. Both hats and bags feature a logo specially designed by TaylorMade that pays homage to the tournament and the legendary venue.

The oval shape of this special edition logo was inspired by the badge issued to tournament patrons at the 1965 event. The words "season opener" refer to the tournament's position on the schedule as the first Major Championship of the year; the latitude and longitude coordinates on the sides refer to Augusta's position on the map; and the number 40705 refers to the tournament's scheduled starting date, April 7, 2005.

Hats feature the special edition logo on the back of the hats; staff bags will feature it on the front. Hats are colored green and bone. Bags will feature a white, green, burgundy and black color-scheme. Hats also feature a woven tab stitched into the back with the word "AMEN" and a rendering of a green jacket. The jacket is symbolic of the famous green jacket awarded to the tournament winner, while AMEN is a reference to hole numbers 10, 11 and 12, which together are known as "Amen Corner."

Replica hats are available to the public at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $20.

Players who wore TaylorMade's special edition hats and used the special edition staff bags at this year's Masters included 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir, Darren Clarke, Fred Funk, Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, Tom Lehman, Graeme McDowell, Peter Lonard, Kenny Perry, Ian Poulter and Scott Verplank.

Two bags have been made for every player, one to use in the tournament and the other to keep. Bags used in the event have been pre-sold to a private collector, with the proceeds going to the First Tee Foundation.

"This is the third consecutive year that we've created special edition bags and hats for use by our staff players at the Masters," says Craig Barez, creative director for TaylorMade. "We do it to pay tribute to the event, its venue and its history with something that's special and authentic."
