La Jolla Club Golf Company Introduces 2005 Knife Fairway woods

(Vista, CA) – March 24, 2005 La Jolla Club Golf Company today announced that it has reduced the height of the sole blades on its popular Knife fairway woods and added a standard proprietary Fujikura shaft. The redesigned 2005 Knife will begin shipping in the spring of 2005.

“After almost two years on all the tours and in the hands of golfers throughout the country, we are finding that people prefer the reduced blade height that’s featured on our Tour Knife,” commented Paul Herber, President, La Jolla Club Golf Company. “The blades are still high enough to provide golfers with all the benefits of the original Knife.”

The 2005 Knife features shallower blades and special back weighting, which allows the club to sit much squarer and provides better hitting off of tight fairway lies and rough. In addition to a reduced blade height, The Knife will feature an elegant high polish finish.

The Knife metal woods (#3, #5, #7, #9, #11) feature a patented set of three blades on the club sole coupled with a low center of gravity. The design arms golfers with unmatched stability, accuracy and even distance in a variety of shot-making conditions. The two outside blades act as outriggers, stabilizing the club head through the swing, even through twist-producing rough. The center blade acts as a rudder for straightness.

Together, the blades also work to keep the sole from touching the ground. Less drag generally adds distance for most golfers. The Knife’s design places 60 percent of the club weight below the equator, making the club more forgiving and versatile.

The Knife # 5 and # 7 woods are available in right- and left-handed models. The #3, #9 and #11 woods are available only in right-handed models. Fujikura has designed a proprietary shaft for the La Jolla Club Knife in L, A, R and S flexes. The Knife conforms to USGA rules and has a suggested retail price of $129.95.
