Golf for a million bucks!

(CHICAGO) - Golfers from all over Chicagoland are invited to compete in the Gale Sayers-Marklund Million Dollar Shoot-Out from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, at one of the following golf courses:

• St. Andrews Golf Club, 3N441 Rt. 59, West Chicago.
• Arrowhead Golf Club, 26 W. 151 Butterfield Rd., Wheaton.
• Oak Brook Golf Club, 2606 York Rd., Oak Brook.
• Poplar Creek Country Club, 1400 Poplar Creek Drive, Hoffman Estates.
• Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road, Bloomingdale.

The Million Dollar Shoot-Out is a three-round contest, with a chance at winning a grand prize of $1 million. Proceeds from the contest benefit Marklund, a not-for-profit network of services that helps infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities reach their highest potential and live as full a life as possible.

How the contest works

Round One: Participating courses listed above will designate their golf range to the contest during contest hours; Indian Lakes will designate a hole. Golfers can purchase two shots for $5, and they can purchase as many shots as wanted. Each golfer whose ball makes it within the pre-drawn qualifying area will advance to Round Two of the contest. If more than 100 golfers qualify for Round Two, 100 names will be drawn from the qualifying pool to advance.

Round Two: Round Two of the contest will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Indian Lakes Resort. Each of the qualifiers from Round One will get one shot at a designated hole. The golfers with shots closest to the pin will qualify for the final round and a chance to win a million dollars. If a golfer gets a hole-in-one during Round Two, a prize vacation will be awarded. Celebrity Teams will also be invited to compete in this round.

Round Three: The final round of the Million Dollar Shoot-Out will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Indian Lakes, at the conclusion of the annual Gale Sayers-Marklund Golf Classic. The final qualifiers from Round Two will have a chance to take one shot at a pre-designated hole for a hole-in-one. Registered golfers of the Golf Classic also will have the chance to participate in this round. All contestants who make a hole-in-one will win a million dollars.
