Coral Springs, FL – The relationship between the world of professional golf and charities just got closer. Caddy For A Cure, Inc., a 501(c)(3) Not For Profit corporation, has just announced its inaugural “caddy” opportunity for the 2005 MCI Heritage held in Hilton Head April 11th – 17th.
CEO and veteran PGA Tour caddy Russ Holden describes Caddy For A Cure as “A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for golf enthusiasts to be inside the ropes with their favorite Tour player, one-on-one.” The program is unique in the benefits it delivers by offering the opportunity to “buy for charity” the privilege of caddying for a Tour player during a PGA Tour event practice round. Caddy For A Cure is collaborating with eBay.com and MissionFish.com to provide an online charity auction where individuals can bid on caddying for the participating Tour players for specific Tour tournaments. 100% of the proceeds generated by the auction will be donated to Caddy For A Cure, Inc. The benefiting charities are the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, the PGA Tour Caddies Benevolent Fund, the PGA Tour player’s charity of choice, and the PGA Tour host site’s charity. All wonderful charities.
As Holden says, “It is really a win-win opportunity for everyone involved – the person who wins the auction to caddy gets to experience golf from a professional Tour player’s perspective, the Tour player has an opportunity to get closer to the fans of golf and contribute to their favorite charity, the Tournaments benefit by increasing interest in the event and charities benefit from additional contributions. Basically, professional golf has found a new way to “give back” from one of the world’s most loved games.”
The Caddy For A Cure concept is quickly gaining strong support and acceptance by Tour Players and industry names including golf instructor David Leadbetter. Leadbetter says “Caddy For A Cure is a very worthy cause” and urges golf enthusiasts to take a look and participate. PGA Players who are participating in Caddy For A Cure include some of the game’s most famous, popular and world renown names, such as 2004 MCI Heritage champion Stewart Cink, World # 1 ranked Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, Bernhard Langer, Stuart Appleby, Tom Lehman, Chad Campbell, Fred Funk, Jeff Maggert, Peter Jacobsen and more!
Caddy For A Cure will offer caddy opportunities at five PGA Tour sanctioned events during 2005: The MCI Heritage Classic in Hilton Head, The Shell Houston Open, the Bank of America Colonial, the Barclay’s Classic at Westchester, NY and the John Deere Classic in Illinois.
The auction for the April 12th MCI Heritage practice round will open at on Sunday, March 27th, and will run for ten days.
