Woonsocket, Rhode Island (March 25, 2005) - PGA TOUR professionals Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon, co-hosts of the CVS Charity Classic, today announced the commitment of two father-son duos for the 2005 CVS Pharmacy Charity Classic.
PGA TOUR professionals Jay Haas and Craig Stadler will accompany their sons, PGA TOUR professionals Bill Haas and Kevin Stadler, respectively.
The Haas duo is the defending champions of the CVS Charity Classic, shooting a 20-under (122) to win the 2004 CVS Charity Classic. The win came one week after Bill Haas turned professional.
Jay Haas, a Wake Forest University graduate and golfer, has posted nine PGA TOUR victories in his career. In 2004, Jay made his debut on the Champions Tour finishing in the top-10 in all three tournaments he entered, including second place finishes in both the Senior PGA Championship and The First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.
Like father, like son - Bill Haas was a 2004 Wake Forest University graduate and member of the Deacon's golf team. He is currently playing on both the Nationwide Tour and the PGA TOUR. He posted his best finish, T9, in 2004 at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Bill earned exempt status for being the 11th Nationwide Tour Qualifier at the 2004 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament.
The year of 2004 was a great year for Craig Stadler. Stadler was voted Champions Tour Player of the Year after he earned five victories on the Champions Tour in 2004. He also topped the Champions Tour earnings list for 2004 and received the Arnold Palmer Award, as the circuit's leading money-winner. In his career, Stadler has earned 13 PGA TOUR victories and eight Champions Tour victories.
Kevin Stadler is competing as a rookie on the PGA TOUR this year after finishing 13th on the Nationwide Tour money list in his first season on that circuit. Stadler earned two victories on the Nationwide Tour in 2004; the Lake Erie Charity Classic and the Scholarship America Showdown. His best finish this year on the PGA TOUR is T9 at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson.
Also committed to the 2005 CVS Charity Classic field is PGA TOUR professional Peter Jacobsen. Jacobsen has had seven PGA TOUR victories and one Champions Tour victory (the 2004 U.S. Senior Open) in his 29-year TOUR career. Jacobsen's company, Peter Jacobsen Productions, Inc., manages and operates the CVS Charity Classic.
The 2005 CVS Charity Classic returns to the Rhode Island Country Club, June 26-28, 2005. For more information, visit www.cvsgolf.com.
