Unique fundraiser lets golfers play at different courses in Michigan

The Huntington Bank MS Longest Day of Golf is a month-long, statewide golf event to raise awareness and funds to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter. Golfers can organize a foursome and choose one day in May to hit the links and “putt with a purpose!” The money raised goes toward helping more than 16,000 people in Michigan living with MS. Many golf courses all across Michigan are participating.

Foursomes can choose from the list of top-notch host courses. (See website for list.) REGISTER ONLINE WITH THE MS SOCIETY, www.nmssmi.org, not the course. Courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Receive materials in the mail or online, complete with event procedures, pledge forms and receipts for your sponsors. Each golfer is required to turn in a minimum pledge of $125. All course confirmation occur online.

COST: Each golfer is required to turn in a minimum of $125 to the National MS Society, Michigan Chapter at 21311 Civic Center Dr., Southfield, MI 48076. Teams raising more than $3,000 will be invited to a special team reception and receive awards. Pledges must be turned in by June 24. Golfers will receive prizes.

Individuals raising $2,000 or more in the MS Longest Day of Golf will become a member of the Millennium Circle! Those turning in $3,000 or more will be invited to participate in the Tournament of Champions, Sept. 30 thru Oct. 2, 2005. and will receive airfare, lodging at the historic Carolina Hotel, and two rounds of golf at Pinehurst, site of the 2005 U.S. Open. The top fundraising foursome will receive a weekend golf getaway at McGuire's Resort located in Cadillac, Michigan, with two nights’ lodging and 18 holes of golf each day.
