Golfweek recognizes Honours Golf Properties

BIRMINGHAM, AL. – March 17, 2005 – Golfweek magazine recently released its “America’s Best” golf course rankings naming two Honours Golf properties in the top five “State-By-State Public Access Courses” in Alabama. Limestone Springs Golf Club and FarmLinks Golf Club at Pursell Farms were rated No. 2 and No. 5 respectively. Golfweek released the ratings in the March 5, 2005 issue.

“We’re extremely gratified to have Limestone Springs and FarmLinks recognized by GolfWeek’s expert panel,” said Bob Barrett, CEO of Honours Golf. “Both courses have their own unique layout and design complimented with superior course conditioning and we are thrilled to see them recognized as the best golf courses in the state.”

Rated No. 2 in Alabama is Limestone Springs Golf Club which has received numerous awards and accolades since it opened in 1999. Located 35 minutes north of downtown Birmingham, it is nestled throughout 225 acres of the Appalachian Mountains and features some of the most dramatic elevations and picturesque views in the state. Designed by golf course architect and former U.S. Open winner Jerry Pate, it measures approximately 7,000 yards from the back tees with strategically located bunkers, numerous lakes and scenic waterfalls. Limestone Springs has been consistently rated 4 ½ stars and one of the top 10 “Upscale Course Designs” in the United States by Golf Digest. Limestone Springs is managed by Honours Golf.

FarmLinks Golf Club at Pursell Farms was rated No. 5 in Alabama. Located southeast of Birmingham, FarmLinks Golf Club is touted as the world’s first research and demonstration golf course created by the Pursell family to test products, conduct research and educate golf course superintendents. Designed by Hurdzan-Fry, this 18-hole championship course stretches 7,444 yards and offers a diverse layout with striking views of the mountains and lakes on Pursell Farms. Over two dozen varieties of cool and warm season grasses are incorporated throughout the course. FarmLinks offers dramatic elevation changes and spectacular holes including the 210-yard, par-3 that drops 158 feet to an 8,400 square-foot green.

This is the ninth year Golfweek has released its ratings of “America’s Best” courses. Votes are placed by a panel of 350-members on the national rating panel. These expert raters grade courses on criteria such as routing, shaping, natural setting and overall land plan, greens and surrounding contours, variety and memorability of par-3’s, par-4’s and par-5s, course conditioning, landscape and tree management and “walk in the park” test. The “walk in the park test” according to Golfweek is “the sense of the place as worthy of spending 4 hours on it.” For more information visit: www.limestonesprings.com and www.farmlinksgolfclub.com About Honours Golf Company
