The 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship tees off

March 17, 2005 – Local qualifying for the The 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship has begun and will run throughout the spring, summer and early fall. The finals take place in Laughlin, Nevada on November 9-12 at the magnificent new Laughlin Ranch Golf Club. The PEDC finals will be taped for broadcast by ESPN, with an air date TBA.

The competition is open to any amateur golfer -- male or female, adult or junior. Everyone who enters the 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship will compete in the same (one) division.

This exceptional new golf event rewards both length and accuracy off the tee. Competitors attain points by driving Pinnacle Exception golf balls long and straight into the championship grid. The competitor who amasses the highest point total wins. In case of ties, playoffs will be used to determine the outcome.

Entry fees for the 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship are $20 per try. A try entails a set of five drives, during which competitors attempt to attain as many points as possible. Entrants have a maximum of 2:30 to complete a five-ball set. In cases of simultaneous hitting, each twosome has 5:00 to complete the set.

Local qualifying events for the 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship will take place across North America from March through early October. Winners of local qualifying events advance directly to the 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship finals in Nevada. A total of 128 local qualifying events lead up to the 2005 PEDC National finals in Laughlin, Nevada.

The winner of the 2005 Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Championship will receive $50,000, plus a convertible Honda S2000. In addition, the PEDC champion will earn the status as "golf's most exceptional driver."

The 2005 PEDC North American runner-up, meanwhile, will receive $22,000. Prize money earned by other top finishers at the 2005 PEDC finals will be as follows:

3rd - $12,000

4th - $6,000

5th - $4,000

6th - $3,000

7th - $2,000

8th - $1,000

LOCAL PRIZES -- Top finishers at 2005 PEDC local qualifying events will be awarded prizes based on the following schedule:

1. Local PEDC winners receive a new Cobra driver; plus they qualify for a spot in the PEDC finals.

2. Local runners-up receive one dozen Pinnacle Exception golf balls and a Pinnacle golf shirt; plus they qualify as alternates for the PEDC finals.

3. Golfers who place third, fourth or fifth at 2005 PEDC local qualifying events will receive one dozen Pinnacle Exception golf balls.

(NOTE: Every PEDC participant in local qualifying events receives a six-pack of Pinnacle Exception balls and a Pinnacle branded golf cap.)
