March 16, 2005 – Volvik Golf Balls has confirmed their agreement with the Michigan PGA Section to be the official golf ball of the 2005 Michigan Women’s Open golf tournament.
The 12th Annual Michigan Women’s Open will be held July 25-27, 2005 at Crystal Mountain Resort in scenic Thompsonville, Michigan. A Pro-Am will be held on July 23-24 prior to the open. Title sponsor for the event is The Detroit Newspapers who publish the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News.
The Pro-Am package is a modest $575 per golfer or $2,300 per foursome. Price includes two rounds, two nights accommodation at Crystal Mountain, continental breakfast each day and Pro-Am Banquet on Saturday evening. Pro-Am prizes include airline tickets, golf packages, golf equipment and more! The two day scramble format takes in both of the Crystal Mountain courses and teams four amateurs with a professional.
Tournament Director Tim Czelada of the Michigan PGA said, “I’m excited about the event. The past two years at Crystal Mountain have been phenomenal. I expect the field to grow considerably this year. Everyone who attends loves the location at Crystal Mountain, it has a real vacation resort feel.” Czelada went on to say, “The change two years ago to opening up the tournament to those outside the state has made the tournament much bigger. Our goal is to make the Michigan Women’s Open the very best state open.”
Total tournament purse is $30,000 with an entry of $190 per golfer. Female golfers must have a U.S.G.A. Handicap of 15 or less to qualify for the open field.
