IZZO GOLF launches into the golf club market

MACEDON, NY – March 14, 2005 – IZZO GOLF, for long an industry leader in golf bags and training aids, makes the leap to golf clubs with the introduction of the groundbreaking Zwood. Featuring the most advanced club technology on the market, Zwoods are the solution for any golfer looking for more power, control and playability from 160-260 yards.

Available in a unique even-only selection of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10-woods, Zwoods combine the best qualities of today’s drivers, fairway woods, and hybrid clubs into one high-performance, remarkably easy-to-hit package.

“It was crucial that our first golf club not only have a significant impact on the industry, but more importantly, make the game easier and more enjoyable for all golfers,” says Travis Worth, president of IZZO GOLF. “Zwoods are the result of a lot of patience and hard work.”

“Intelligent Engineering” is what separates Zwoods from other clubs on the market. Unlike other composites that blend a small amount of graphite fiber into a steel or titanium club head, IZZO replaced almost the entire crown with a lightweight graphite matrix. This allowed our team to reposition the center of gravity (COG) resulting in a golf club that gets the ball airborne immediately and is extremely forgiving of off-center hits. “Virtually any club will produce great shots with a square clubface and solid contact but even a scratch golfer can’t make a pure swing every time,” says Worth.

“Zwoods” technology helps deliver outstanding performance from even mediocre swings. That means more fairways hit, more greens reached, and lower scores “in short, more fun.”

An added benefit of the Zwoods’ bold composite design is the metal top-line, which makes squaring the clubface at address a snap.

The Zwood’s evens-only concept is built around the 2-wood, IZZO’s champion to the new series of woods. At 12.5 degrees of loft, it produces what several leading publications have shown to be the ideal launch angle for the average golfer to produce maximum distance. With an explosive titanium face, it offers an easier-to-hit alternative to a driver. At the same time, better players will find the nimble 275cc clubhead extremely playable from the fairway, bringing some of those previously unreachable par-5s to within striking distance.

The carbon crowned 4, 6, 8, and 10-Zwoods are made of 17-4 stainless steel, and range in size from 160 to 190cc’s slightly larger than the average fairway wood. “Not oversized, but the enlarged hitting area is a confidence-booster at first sight,” says Worth. Zwoods overall design, touted as Zwood Technology, gets the ball airborne from virtually any lie, And with the IZZO’s proprietary shaft, the Zwoods will deliver maximum performance for all swing types.

Zwoods are fit with IZZO’s custom graphite shaft, and are available in L, A, R, S, and XS flexes. Estimated retail prices are $229 for the titanium 2-wood, and $179 for the stainless steel 4, 6, 8, and 10-woods. Custom shaft options are available through any participating golf retailer.

The launch of the new Zwoods coincides with IZZO’s signing of one of the most recognizable and authoritative voices in the game, Peter Oosterhuis. The six-time Ryder Cupper, four-time leader of the European Order of Merit, and current CBS golf analyst will endorse the Zwoods and host a 28-minute infomercial as part of an extensive direct marketing campaign designed to kick-start consumer awareness and retail activity. Starting in March, the infomercial will air regularly on The Golf Channel, with 30- and 60-second teasers running throughout the day.

“Peter Oosterhuis is a legendary part of the game’s fabric, and we’re thrilled to have him on board,” says Worth. “His association with the Zwoods makes the statement that not only do we have a great product here, but as clubmakers we plan on being around for a long time.”
