March 9, 2005 – Volvik Golf Balls exclusive distributor FLGolf of Summerfield, Florida, has told writers of their contribution and sponsorship of the North Carolina Tsunami Relief golf tournament this past Friday.
The event organized by Magnolia Golf Course of Magnolia NC was a great success. A small but enthusiastic number of golfers competed in a best ball format to raise funds for the survivors of the tsunami which struck the eastern shores of the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004.
A total of $4,223.00 was raised and will be distributed by Direct Relief International who will not take any administrative expenses from the total.
Volvik Golf Balls where given to all those participating. The winning team shot 56 led by Billy Duncan, Joey Brennan, John Bullard and Scott Robinson, who won a round of golf each at Pinehurst #8 course.
The event was attended by Ms. North Carolina, Chelsea Cooley, State Represenative Russell Tucker, State Senator Charlie Albertson and Mayor Batten of Warsaw NC.
Chuck Womer, FLGolf President said, "Golf shows it's true charitable colors every week with efforts like these put on by folks like Kip Whaley the General Manager of Magnolia. While the PGA Tour closes in on one billion in charitable donations this year it's the smaller events that happen around the country that are also raising vast amounts of money for charity. We were happy to participate in our small way with the event and wish for continued success of our friends at Magnolia Golf Course."
