Thongchai Jaidee named European Tour Golfer for February

March 9, 2005 – Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand has been named The European Tour Golfer of the Month for February following his impressive defence of the Carlsberg Malaysian Open at Saujana Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur.

The 35 year old, who was selected by a panel comprising members of the media and The European Tour, led from start to finish to successfully defend the title he won at the same venue in 2004. He carded rounds of 64-66-67-70 for a 21 under par total of 267 and a three stroke winning margin over India's Jyoti Randhawa.

Among those considered for the February Award were Swedish Ryder Cup player, Niclas Fasth, who returned to the winner's circle for the first time in five years by winning the Holden New Zealand Open and Adam Scott of Australia, who captured the rain-shortened Nissan Open on the US PGA Tour. Also commended were Marc Cayeux and Richard Sterne of South Africa, who both won on the Sunshine Tour, and Australians Steven Bowditch and Peter O'Malley, who were victorious in events on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

The Award is presented to a European Tour Member each month from January to December for his performance on The European Tour International Schedule and in worldwide competition. At the end of the year, the panel will select The European Tour Golfer of the Year.

Nick Dougherty of England was named European Tour Golfer of the Month for January following his victory in the Caltex Masters, presented by Carlsberg, Singapore 2005.
