March 1, 2005 –Volvik Golf Balls exclusive distributor FLGolf of Summerfield, Florida, has issued a statement on recent press and industry rumor about the Crystal pastel-colored golf balls.
Director of Corporate Communications Glen Coombe said, "Golf World Magazine's Feb. 18, 2005 issue contained a very interesting equipment article by E. Michael Johnson." In his piece "A little black magic" Johnson, referring to the Crystal pastel-colored golf balls wrote, "In one year the eye-catching Volvik balls achieved a market-share greater than such name ball brands as Hogan, Slazenger and Srixon."
Coombe said, "While we're certain that colored golf balls are on solid comeback we've actually slowed our color production. With color ball inventory at a very comfortable level we've had to shift gears and order production to continue uninterrupted to produce the white Crystal golf ball. The white Crystal is actually our real runaway success story. Though we produce the ball in a wide variety of colors the white Crystal is our number one selling ball. Our inventory plans for 2005 still have us playing catch-up to the demand for white Crystals. Some of our buyers are actually having to make due with our state logo balls, and our Las Vegas Crystals where appropriate, while the plain white Crystal is in short supply."
FLGolf President, Chuck Womer said, "The factory in South Korea is working at full production to keep pace with our demand for product. Volvik is also working very hard to produce its' other lines of balls for the world market outside the USA. Volvik manufacturing is very pleased with the success they're enjoying here in the USA. Rumors of a second production shift abound. I'm not certain that will come to be but I know the manufacturing side of the business will continue to be strong and healthy well into the future."
