Champ posts third victory of PGA Tour season

MARLBOROUGH, MA – Feb. 28, 2005 – When Mother Nature brings heavy downpours, traction becomes a necessity on the golf course. So it should come as no surprise that the winner of the rain-shortened Nissan Open on the PGA Tour was wearing Champ 6mm Cer-Mec spikes. This was the third victory of the 2005 season for Champ, with wins coming earlier at the Buick Classic (Champ 6mm Cer-Mec) and the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (Champ Stinger).

Overall at the Nissan Open, 24 golfers wore Champ soft golf spikes, with 22 wearing Champ Stinger spikes and two wearing Champ ScorpionSpikes. In addition, 43 golfers wore Champ 6mm Cer-Mec spikes, bringing Champ’s total spike count at the Nissan Open to 67, or 47 percent of the field.

In 2004, Champ golf spikes produced 65 victories on the professional tours, with 34 Stinger wins, 14 Champ ScorpionSpikes wins and 17 Champ 6mm Cer-Mec wins. Champ Stinger spikes posted seven victories on the PGA Tour, seven on the LPGA Tour, eight on the Champions Tour and 12 on the Nationwide Tour in 2004.
