ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Feb. 28, 2005 – Three couples from the world of professional golf-Tom and Melissa Lehman, Fred and Thais Couples and Duffy and Vicky Waldorf-joined authors Kay Davidoff-Ziplow and Leslie F. Zinberg to celebrate the publication of Life With a Swinger: Conversations Off the Tee with Golf Professionals and Their Wives at a pair of book store events in Los Angeles recently.
All six spouses contributed to the new book from publisher Clock Tower Press (Ann Arbor, MI). Mr. Lehman, the 2006 Ryder Cup US Team Captain, also provided the book's foreword. Hundreds of golf fans stood in line to meet the Lehmans and the Couples and authors Davidoff-Ziplow and Zinberg at Dutton's Books in Brentwood on February 15th. On the following night, Mr. And Mrs. Waldorf joined the authors to greet and sign books for a second crowd at Borders Books and Music in Sherman Oaks.
"It's a real pleasure to be here to support Kay and Leslie. Life with a Swinger is a book that Melissa and I were happy to be a part of," said Mr. Lehman. "We've believed in it from the start and love how it has turned out."
Life With a Swinger: Conversations Off the Tee with Golf Professionals and Their Wives explores golf from the point of view of touring pros and their spouses. With quotes, anecdotes and never-before-seen photos from scores of professional golfers and their spouses, the book shows the private lives behind the public achievements. The personal challenges faced both by husbands whose "day job" is a rare calling and by the wives who choose to support them through the ups and downs of the game are described by ninety-six contributors in their own words. These contributors include Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, Fuzzy and Diane Zoeller and Sonya and David Toms as well as the Lehmans, the Couples and the Waldorfs.
About the Authors
Kay Davidoff-Ziplow is an avid golfer who has played as the only woman amateur in more than thirteen PGA Tour Pro/AMs. Leslie F. Zinberg is the co-author of a series of parenting books entitled The Pink and Blue Baby Pages and The Pink and Blue Toddler and Preschooler Pages and has appeared on TV shows such as "The Today Show," "ABC Eyewitness News" and "E." Both women were featured on "Viewer's Forum," a one-hour live special on The Golf Channel that highlighted the lives of tour wives.
