ORLANDO, FL. – Feb. 28, 2005 – If you were searching for the top golf instructors in the world at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL; your search would have ended in the booth of the Explanar Golf Training System. Invented by Luther Blacklock, a top 25 instructor in Europe, the Explanar was on display and drew heavy attention throughout the entire show.
"We had many of the names that regularly appear on the Top 50 and Top 100 Instructors lists stop by and see for themselves what everyone in the business is talking about," said Explanar Managing Director Tony Clark. "The buzz about the Explanar is out there and everyone wants to find out more."
The Explanar team was overrun at the demo day, often with 30 or more people. Everyone wanted to know what was drawing so much attention from a group known for skepticism. When someone that was a self-proclaimed 20+ handicap, started hitting draw and fade shots on command, their questions were answered. Explanar's booth at the show was similarly crowded over all four days.
"We were truly amazed at the reception the Explanar Swing System received," said Clark. "The response was absolutely tremendous."
When there's a gathering of some of the greatest minds in golf instruction, there's usually a story or two that comes out of it. The Explanar Swing System booth at the PGA Merchandise Show was no exception.
There was one highly regarded instructor who had obviously not seen the results on the range at Demo Day. He questioned some of the theories the Explanar is based on, and his questions were answered satisfactorily. The exchange drew one interested spectator. When the skeptic came back with yet another supposition, the famous onlooker had an answer.
"Forget that," said Butch Harmon, regarded as the top instructor in the world. "It works. That's all you've got to know. Every student at my school is on the Explanar every day and every one of them improves. This is the best teaching aid period."
There was no more cynicism. In fact, James Achenbach, associate editor equipment/instruction for Golfweek raved about the Explanar in the February 7, 2005 issue. "…there seems to be something almost magical about a golfer's transition from (the Explanar) to the golf course. At two demo days in Florida, I watched golfer after golfer report improved ball striking after using the Explanar," he wrote.
The Home version of the Explanar Golf Training System was unveiled at the Show as well.
"It was very warmly received," said Clark. We sold quite a few and that's important. I think that once friends of customers see the improvement, they'll have to have one as well. From all standpoints, it was a very successful show."
