MMC shaft helped Slater set world long drive record

BREA, CA – Feb. 25, 2005 – Matrix Composite Corporation (www.mccshafts.com) has confirmed that its MFS Series "DEEP" long drive shaft was used by Paul Slater of Warrington, England on February 12th to set the world long drive record of 720 yards on a runway at London City Airport. Slater used his MFS "DEEP" to eclipse Stuart Appleby's 696-yard effort last November on a runway in Australia.

"We at MCC are, of course, very proud to have shared in the accomplishment of setting this world long-drive record," MCC Vice President of Sales and Corporate Communications Jim Jack observed. "We created the 'MFS Deep' shaft to test the outer limits and maximize the stress on our top-of-the-line MFS Series of shafts. That the 'MFS Deep' performed well enough to set a world long-drive record is wonderful validation. What will be just as important to the world's elite long drivers is that the 'MFS Deep' and the methodology and materials used in our entire MFS Series insure that these shafts are virtually impossible to break.

"Knowing that the average competitive Long Driver is constantly worried about breaking shafts, it would seem to me that the 'MFS Deep' is an option that should be considered, especially since it has been proven to perform well enough to set a world long-drive record. Obviously, a 720-yard drive on an airport runway doesn't translate to the average golfer's needs in a shaft, which is why we at MCC shafts don't sponsor any long drivers. That being said, however, we are pleased that this achievement proves that there really is no limit to the performance of our MFS Series technology. Our philosophy with MFS is that by sparing no expense in materials and by employing the meticulous manufacturing processes unique to MCC Shafts, it is inevitable that you can make the best performing shafts in the world. We are proud that this belief works in long drive, as well as on the PGA Tour."
